Shaykh Yahya Rhodus
is an Islamic scholar and educator specializing in Islamic spirituality. He is the Founding Director of Al-Maqasid, an Islamic seminary in Pennsylvania dedicated to cultivating holistic learning environments rooted in the Prophetic inheritance.
He earned his BA in Near Eastern Studies from the University of California, Berkeley and his MA in Islamic Studies from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. He later completed his PhD in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad. His academic research focuses on classical Islamic thought and its application within a modern context.
Shaykh Yahya’s journey into traditional Islamic scholarship began shortly after he embraced Islam at the age of 19. He initially studied with local scholars in California before traveling to Mauritania to pursue a full-time course of study under the distinguished scholar Murabit al-Hajj. He later spent several years in Tarim, Yemen, at the prestigious Dar al-Mustafa institute, where he studied under Habib Umar bin Hafiz.
Through Al-Maqasid, he continues to lead educational programs that emphasize the integration of knowledge, devotion, and service.
